Week 1, card 3 Holiday card boot camp

When I saw today's inspiration at the Holiday Card Boot Camp, I thought, oh well, more photo cards - not really for me.  I'm single, no kids, so no family happy snaps to share in Christmas cards.  But then I saw parts of the cards that I could use - I liked the way Kristina Werner wrapped baker's twine around her card, but I don't have any, so I used linen thread instead.  I particularly liked the way Kelly Goree folded some paper to make a Christmas tree, and I thought it would look good with double sided patterned paper. Here's what I came up with:

In the end, it was quite tricky to make - the first thing I did was cut a semi-circle using my Martha Stewart circle cutter - and sliced the tip of my right index finger with the blade! Ouch!! And I'm right handed!!  Quite tricky making a card with index finger in a bandage :(  However, I avoided getting blood on the card, so that's OK! (Must get one's priorities right! LOL!!!)

  8. Seems like we think very much alike when it comes to Photo cards! I'm also not a fan and hoping today was the only day we will have them in class!

I used my time to try some other cards and catch up on a few challenges!

I love how your tree cards came out. Now you have inspired me to try these -- the double sided paper is a bonus too!

    See you tomorrow!

  9. Love this little folded tree. Looks great with the double sided paper. I almost missed the tutorial since I don't do photo cards. That would have been a terrible shame. Have fun with HCBC!

  11. Wonderful card using some of the ideas presented to us here, and with supplies on hand. Guess this is what it's all about, and not that we have to duplicate the class card.
