Baby DeNami giraffe

I love this DeNami giraffe stamp, and I love this semtiment stamp from Stampin' Up - don't know why I haven't thought to put them together until today!
Will be entering this into DeNami's sketch challenge ;)

Kissed blue flower

I've never tried kissing stamps before (let me rephrase that - I've never SUCCESSFULLY tried kissing stamps before) - so when I saw LilyPad cards had a kissing challenge, I thought I'd better give it a whirl.

Also submitting this to Clean and Simple Stamping's sketch challenge (see sketch below) and to Moxie Fab's Cure the Winter Blues challenge

Masculine candles

I always need masculine cards, and never have enough, so gotta try to build up my stash.

Submitting this to CASual Fridays challenge in mind - "Jest for the Pun of it" - using a fun or jokey sentiment, and to Moxie Fab's Cure for the Winter Blues challenge.

Turtley cute!

When I saw this week's CASual fridays challenge, "Jest for the Pun of it", I had so many ideas floating around in my head (might come back to some of them), but seeing as I had just pulled out my stash of DeNami Stamps for their sketch challenge, the little turtle just screamed at me, "USE ME!!!!".  So I did!
I had to modify the sentiment stamp somewhat........
Have a turtley wonderful day :)

Masculine card for a wedding? Engagement? Something!

Here's something you don't see very often - a masculine card for a wedding or engagement - what if you're a bloke and you want to give a card and can't stand all the flowery, glittery things you sometimes see in the card shops?  You need something like this:

I'm submitting this to The Paper Players for their CAS masculine challenge.

This card started off completely different - when I made this card >>>>>>>>>
I stamped the sentiment OK, and then dropped the ink pad on the card!  I didn't want to waste a perfectly good piece of PTI white card, so I decided to cover up my boo boo!  I had to start the original card from scratch.  That's the fantastic thing about paper crafting - you can often rescue a blunder :)

DeNami sketch challenge

I've had these adorable little DeNami farm animals for while now, but had not got them inky until this afternoon.  Seeing as DeNami has a sketch challenge at the moment, I thought I'd join in :)  I just flipped the sketch 180 degrees ;)
I'm not particularly good with Copics yet - but I'm learning, and it's fun!  :)

Moxie fab and a CAS sketch

When I saw this week's Clean and Simple sketch, I knew it would be a challenge - one layer cards are not my forte, but I was determined!  Then when I saw the most recent Moxie Fab World Tuesday Trigger, it all fell into place.

Navy blue and white

This week, there's a challenge at Moxie Fab World to cure the winter blues with a navy blue card.  Seeing as it is 35 C here today (that's 95 F), I don't really have the winter blues - quite the opposite - but I thought I'd join in, anyway :)
The Paper Players has a masculine card challenge this week, so I thought I'd try a navy blue masculine card - but this card would really work for a male or a female recipient, I think.
I stamped the leaf images onto white cardstock, and then coloured with various blue distress inks (Broken china, chipped sapphire, faded jeans and tumbled glass), then spritzed with Perfect Pearls in water, and then mounted on larger squares of white cardstock, before being mounted onto the textured white card base with dimensional adhesives.  The PTI sentiment is stamped in Chipped sapphire.
Thanks for visiting - have a great day :)

Classes at Sue's place

I quite often go to the home of Sue Madex, Stampin' Up demonstrator extraordinaire, for her monthly card making classes.  I've never posted any cards I've made at these classes here on my blog, because they are Sue's designs, not mine, but last night, I made one that was all mine - I just used Sue's stamps, tools, and paper from Sue's stash :)
The postage stamp punch is now on my wish list, but I think that this patterned paper is now discontinued - I couldn't find it in the catalogue or the Summer Mini :(
Submitting this to this week's Less is More week 55 theme challenge - punches or die cuts, and to Daring Cardmakers postage-themed challenge.

Have a great day :)

Happy birthday, Sharyne!

It is my friend Sharyne's birthday this week - I'm seeing her today, so thought I'd give her birthday card to her in person, rather than mail it :)
I used a few new things on this card (well, new for me!), including Hero Arts Friends Definition background stamp, Papertrey Ink Wonderful Words Additions stamp set and Wonderful Words Die collection (as well as PTI white cardstock - good stuff), Broken Glass Distress ink (in the background as well as the larger flowers), as well as some ribbon from a shop that Sharyne introduced me to - Kaiser Crafts at Moorabbin DFO.
Happy birthday, Sharyne - have a great day!

I'll be submitting this to Annabelle Stamps "Say it with background stamps"Less is More "punches or Die cuts (I used both), and CASual Fridays "Tie one on" - ribbon cards.
Thanks for visiting :)

Dinos on a train

Well, if you read my last post, you'd know that I was set a challenge to make a card with dinosaurs on a train for a 2-year-old.  Compared to last year's pink-pirate-monkey-1st birthday+housewarming challenge, this one was easy!
And, because I'm a science nerd, yes, I know that there are not just dinosaurs on that train - the one in the caboose is a pterosaur!  (geez, I couldn't get much nerdier, could I!)
Thanks for visiting - have a great day!

A new challenge

Do any of you remember this card from February 2011?
My friend, Alice, needed a card for a friends 1-year-old daughter last year.  When I asked her what kind of theme - what does the 1-year-old like? - Alice said she likes pink, she also likes pirates and monkeys.  Oh, and can you also make it a housewarming card, too, please?  I came up with this pink-pirate-monkey-housewarming card :)

Well, little miss is turning 2 soon, so Alice asked if I could make another card.  OK, what would you like this time?   Well, she likes robots (but I have no robot stamps - must rectify that), she likes cows  (I could do that), she likes dinosaurs, ooh, and she really likes trains!  How about dinosaurs on a train?!?!?!?!

I'll keep you posted ;)

Cardabilities and Hero Arts

I made this card with this week's Cardabilities sketch in my head - but then I put it together backwards!  It's kind of a mirror image of the sketch.  I also used my new HA friends definition cling stamp - why did it take me so long to buy this stamp?! Love it!  The sentiment is from Lawn Fawn.
Submitting this to the Hero Arts Monthly contest on Flickr, as well as Just Us Girls challenge to add buttons to the centre of images  :)

Baby banner

With this card, it looks fine in the flesh, so to speak, but in the photo, the background seems to take over a bit too much.   The little baby banner, which is paper pieced,  stands out quite well on the actual card, as it is stamped in black, and popped up on dimensional adhesive.  It seems to blend into the background a bit too much in the photo - oh, well.
I followed one of the Papertrey Ink Anniversary sketches, and I'll also submit this to CASual Fridays for their paper piecing challenge, and to Lilypad cards for their Simon Says Stamp patterned paper challenge.

Wavy whale

I had a request for some more baby cards today - so I've made a few :)  This one came together easily, following a sketch from Cardabilities  - a bit of cutting some wavy lines, a punched sentiment, and a cute little whale from a pack of ready-made embellishments - easy!

A little bit of paper piecing

When I make baby cards, I seem to revert to pale pink and pale blue, so I tried to have neither of those colours as the main colour of this card.   This card will be submitted to CASual Fridays paper piecing challenge, as all the flowers are cut out of paper, as well as Just Us Girls challenge to add buttons to the centre of images, and to Lilypad Cards for their patterned paper challenge.

Moxie Fab, meet PTI

I made this card with three challenges in mind - Moxie Fab's Tuesday Trigger "Fancy Schmancy", Papertrey Ink's Anniversary challenge - day 6 sketch, and Lilypad Cards Patterned paper challenge.
For the Moxie fab challenge, I took the colours pink, white and chocolate, took the stripes on the paper the lovely little cakes are sitting on, the lacy-ness of the doily (but I went with a brown lacy border around the oval) and the pink pearl-like cachous on the top of the cakes.
I altered the PTI sketch a little bit, but not too much, I hope ;)
